Our Year 6 students have been studying energy in Science. We have focused on electrical energy and how we use it. We invited and were visited by the Morten Bay Environmental Education Centre team to help us audit the electricity we use at school. Students measured energy consumption of appliances recording kWh usage. This information was then used to calculate the amount on electrical energy that is used on a daily and yearly basis. Students then figured out what that meant as a dollar value. Students then used this information to formulate ways to reduce the amount of electrical energy that our school consumes which will reduce our environmental footprint as well as save money on power bills.
