Dalby State School encourages 21st century thinking. We understand that each student is individual and brings with them a desire to learn and participate in a curriculum that harnesses their potential to achieve wonderful results.

Our teachers plan engaging learning experiences that cater for a range of students in their class. Teacher Aides work with teachers to ensure our students are provided with regular support. A variety of teaching practices are used including the regional focus of Explicit Instruction whereby teachers scaffold learning experiences and allow students to consolidate the required skills and knowledge.

"One of the greatest tools available to us [as educators] in this pursuit is explicit instruction – instruction that is systematic, direct, engaging and success orientated." Anita Archer

Dalby State School uses the Australian Curriculum to plan, teach, assess and report for the core learning areas of English, Maths, Science, History and Geography. Subject areas including the Arts, Technology, Health and Physical Education and Languages Other Than English (Year 5 and 6 only) utilise a combination of the Australian Curriculum and the Queensland Essential Learnings.

Dalby State School is a gazetted ‘Music Excellence’ school. We offer a highly engaging and broad Music program that incorporates a number of Choral Ensembles, Instrumental Ensembles as well as a highly successful Beginner Band, Concert Band and Stage Band. Involvement in eisteddfods, school and district events is highly encouraged and participation in state wide performances such as Creative Generations occurs frequently. Dalby State School presents a musical every second year to rave reviews.
