On Anzac morning, 2017 a fire totally destroyed the Administration and Staffroom wing, the recently renovated music wing and A Block classrooms sustained extensive smoke and water damage. Students and Staff of Dalby State School were overwhelmed with the support from other schools from around the state and the community and are so grateful for the donations received. Only one school day was lost following the fire as students and staff were both resilient and determined to move forward.
Now a new era is approaching with the impending completion of a new building. Work started on the 2nd of April over the Easter break. The design of the new building will consist of 6 classrooms (4 upstairs and 2 downstairs), a music room, an instrumental practice room, music storage room, outdoor learning space, staffroom, conference room and a large number of offices in the administration section. The new building will be a mix of traditional and heritage styles with a modern twist. An additional advantage with the new building is that there will be extra space for the growing number of enrolments.
